Where empathy and compassion meets eco-tourism.

Our main goal at BCRTI is to create dialogue and build trust within the local stakeholders in the buffer zones. We do this through eco-tourism and numerous other activities involving the beautiful communities around us, from tribals to villagers.

Our Approach

The primary intention with this trust is to create trust within local communities in the buffer zones, those that play a key role in the ever-prevailing man-animal conflict in these areas. With trust and dialogue, we can change mindsets from adversity towards wildlife to a mindset of conservation.

Our rescue centre, The Backwater Sanctuary, was created under BCRTI to further encourage empathy and compassion towards animals, especially those facing a different kind of conflict, namely working animals that have been abused and neglected. By encouraging local communities to interact and closely work with these abused animals, we aim to evoke compassion and empathy, which ideally will have a trickle down effect into compassion towards all animals, including wildlife.

Ongoing Activities

Creating trust and dialogue within the local communities in the buffer zones is an intricate process. Here are some examples of the dialogue-building work we do at BCRTI.
